Y2K Trends I'm Trying Out in 2021

I don’t know about anyone else but I am obsessed with all of the Y2K trends coming back! I was too young to be able to fully embrace a lot of them at the time and I think we’ve come such a long way in fashion that these trends can be more sophisticated and have an ease to them instead of looking forced, uncomfortable, or childlike.

Here are 3 Y2K trends that I am re-imagining for Summer 2021:

Suit Vests as Tops

I like the idea of wearing these with matching suit pants or mid to long length shorts with flat sandals for day or high heel sandals for night. Loving the menswear vibe that is still appropriate for the summertime.

Baby Tees and Tanks

As an frequent oversized tee wearer, I really enjoy the ability to pair a baby tee with a mini skirt and loafers without all the extra fabric in the way. With a baby tee or tank, you have the option of tucking it in or leaving out for that little low-belly sliver peek. I’m really into these obnoxious slogan tees and Ed Hardy-inspired ones to pair with a more sophisticated pair of shorts or a skirt to achieve that high-low mix.

Platform Sandals

There are few looks that these don’t go with imo. I love the idea of wearing these with pants or long jeans and just having a peek of your pedicure showing. They also look very cool with dresses but I would do a more flowy style and stay away from wearing a fitted dress with these, as that could go dated or over-the-top very easily.
